Since I have held these shares for long, I don’t even pay LTCG tax. How’s that for free ka money!

As an aside, this type of insight has some useful practical applications in error detection and correction in digital information storage and transmission.

You have to weight only ONCE….Let me give you procedure sir,

–You have to weight all stacks together at once (total weight would be 1010gms)..and keep on removing each stack at a time.. Whenever weight reduces by 110gms by removing a stack that is a counterfeit one.

— Practically and logically you are putting once over scale i.e., you are weighing once.

………..Thanks for your brain twister.

Will give today time to all others and will share my answer tomorrow

My estimate of answer – Min 2 (if you are lucky) and Max 3 weightings

Logic

– Divide the 10 stacks in two equal parts of 5 stack each – weight each stack of 5 against one another. Portion with counterfeit stack will weigh more, so take that portion out for further processing

– Now divide the portion taken above into three parts – two portions of 2 stack of 10 coins and one portion of 1 stack of 10 coins. Repeat the process undertaken in first step i.e. weight each stack of 2 against one another, if it turns out to be equal – than the 1 stack remaining is the counterfeit (the lucky option). Else, if the weight of each stack of 2 turns out to be unequal – than take out the stack which weights more for further processing

– Just repeat the process undertaken in first step i.e. weight the above stack against each another and voila you have the counterfeit.

Let me know if there is a better way! ]]>

Hope you like our posts and enjoy reading on our blog. These days I am reading book “This time is different”

https://www.amazon.com/This-Time-Different-Centuries-Financial/dp/0691152640

It talks about how from the past eight centuries before the financial crisis everyone talks about “This time is different” for its valuations and then we see collapse in the price. Worth reading as it is most relevant text for today’s market condition.

Thanks
